MEET LINA
Lina Franklin, Midwest native, wife, mom, and natural born creative. Her inspiration for hairstyling started at the age of 8. Inspired by a fellow 2nd grade classmate, Lina wanted to style her own hair for school. From there, she kept a love for hairstyling and ventured into flat iron straightening, braiding, and hair color. As a high school student Lina was often identified as “the girl with all the hair colors” rather than her own name. She didn’t know it was the beginning of what would become her career.
Lina went on to study Cosmetology at B- Street School of International Hair Design. Naturally she assumed hair coloring would be her favorite subject in technical training. This is where her love for haircuts began. Her skills captured the attention of the instructors as a beginner practicing mannequin training. She was recognized as a haircut specialist.
Her family history dates back to the early 1900's, highlighting her relatives as barbers and fashion designers. Celebrated for their new fashion styles. They modeled for every new season. With a passion as deep as her roots, Lina has set out with a trend of her own.
Lina’s cosmetology career is sophisticated. As a makeup artist and skincare specialist, she achieved red jacket status as a Mary Kay consultant and business manager in department store cosmetics. Her hairstyling experience has a range of salon settings. Ranging from commercial haircut stores to monolithic barbershop & salons, and multicultural hair salons. This training prepared her for her first launch of Yelllowboots Hair Cuttery. A diverse barbershop. From there, she was able to rebrand with a spin on hair care for multicultural textured hair. She opened, Hairscaping, a trendy haircut and hair care salon.
With the goal of growth in mind, Lina created Unveil Your Haircut Artistry. The rise for multicultural haircut specialist is exciting for Lina. It has been a challenge to find community for multicultural hairstyling. Her first mission was course creation. This course included masculine and feminine hairstyles and different textures. Lina demoed her coursework with other professionals. Although the training received praise, there was still one issue. Marketing. Lina’s lack of marketing angles motivated her to develop a solution to this difficulty. Lina created a quiz to help stylists highlight their strengths and at the same time recognize their areas of opportunity. Their answers summarize their skills as a category aligned with their strengths. Once the quiz captured this new perspective, it prompted Lina to expound on the categories. All along Lina had been categorizing the styles that she executed behind the chair, based on the characteristics of the style and not by her license. Unveil Your Haircut Artistry is a new standard for communication in the beauty and barber industry making marketing for haircut courses and clients easier for professionals. While it also makes communication easier for clients searching for their next style.
Lina is dedicated to helping clients and professionals increase their confidence through the art of hair cutting. She prides herself on including her children on the journey and credits her husband and family for being the best support system.
